I created a 3D product animation for CMD Ltd to showcase the Miro monitor arm, a newly designed monitor support system developed for modern workspaces.
The animation was designed to highlight both the external design of the product and the way it functions. As well as showing the monitor arm in motion, the film also includes a cutaway section that reveals the internal mechanism, helping to explain how the product works in a clear and visually engaging way.

For this project, the goal was not only to present the Miro monitor arm as a polished product visualisation, but also to communicate the engineering behind it.
One of the key parts of the animation is the cutaway view, which allows the viewer to see inside the product and understand the internal mechanism that drives its movement. This approach is particularly effective for products with engineered components, as it helps explain function in a way that would be difficult to achieve through photography or live-action video.
By combining exterior product shots with an internal cutaway, the animation gives a more complete picture of the product’s design, usability and construction.
The visual approach was clean and precise, focusing on the movement, form and engineering of the monitor arm. The cutaway sequence adds another level of explanation by showing what is happening beneath the outer casing.
The animation helped demonstrate:
This kind of cutaway animation is especially useful for technical products, as it allows complex internal features to be understood quickly and clearly.
3D product animation is a powerful way to explain both the appearance and function of a product. It allows the viewer to see the product from any angle, understand how it moves, and even look inside it through sectional or cutaway views.
For manufacturers and product designers, this can be particularly valuable when launching a new product, presenting to clients, supporting sales activity or explaining a design before production photography is available.
In the case of the Miro monitor arm, the animation helps communicate not just what the product looks like, but how it works internally — giving the audience a better understanding of the design and engineering behind it.
I create 3D product animation, technical visualisation and cutaway animation for manufacturers, designers and engineering-led companies. This includes product launch films, feature demonstrations, exploded views, internal mechanism reveals and technical explainers.
If you need to show how a product works, explain its internal construction or create clear visual content for a new design, 3D animation can be an effective solution.
